Cultivating A Joyful Mind Takes Effort
Sep 25, 2021Cultivating a mindset of gratitude, upliftment, joy, forgiveness, and wonder takes effort. A lot of effort!
Globally, the average life expectancy, at birth, is 75 years for women, and 70 years for men. If you live in the USA and some other countries, it’s a bit higher: 81 years for women and 77 years for men.
In sum, it’s a short period of time.
A question that I want to pose to you is this:
„How do you want to feel on a daily basis while being alive?"
You have limited time here on Earth, so how you feel, what you do, and how you spend time is up to you.
Life never gets perfect. I have a little son, who’s 8 months old now. I absolutely adore him. Yet, we, as a family, still struggle to figure out the sleep situation. Many nights, I wake up 3 or 4 times at night, to either feed or cuddle or comfort him. It’s hard because I’m not a person who can easily function on little or interrupted sleep.
Do you know what I do most of the days in the morning?
Wake-up, put on some music, and dance. Here’re some of my favorites:
- Life is Beautiful by Keb’ Mo’
- Life Is a Flower by Ace of Base
- Don’t Worry Be Happy by Bobby McFerrin
- Can’t Stop the Feeling by Justin Timberlake ... the list goes on
Cultivating a mindset of joy is a habit that you build over time. It’s the same as you go to the gym or brush your teeth or make your bed. The idea is this: life presents and will keep presenting challenges to you, but you have an opportunity to build awareness around having a choice of how you respond to those challenges.
Given that you and I are humans, we will have good and bad days, of course, but with growing awareness, more often than less you’ll have a choice to enjoy your life. Rather than not.
I am wishing you a splendid day.
With love,
Mariya
